Therapeutic Approach

Dr. Ostrander draws from an extensive toolbox, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic and relational therapies, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practices. Her approach is holistic and tailored, with a special focus on ego state therapy and parts work to support deep, lasting healing.

Dr. Ostrander specializes in complex trauma, dissociation, anxiety, mood disorders, and intergenerational and family-of-origin patterns. She is especially passionate about helping clients get to know the protective parts of themselves, the parts that work hard to guard against shame and vulnerability. Through an IFS-informed lens, she helps clients meet these parts with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. That opens space for healing, balance, and a deeper connection to their core Self.

Dr. Ostrander is an EMDRIA-Certified EMDR therapist with Level 2 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS). Her clinical work and research center on trauma, bilingual counseling, identity, culturally responsive care, and the mental health of endurance athletes.

She earned her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Adler University, where her dissertation examined adaptations of EMDR for bilingual clients. She also holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University.

An avid endurance athlete, Dr. Ostrander finds balance and clarity through running, biking, rock climbing, and swimming. These pursuits not only fuel her resilience and connection to nature but also enrich her therapeutic presence with clients.

Dr. Wanda Rosario, PhD, LPC

Education

Wanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of the Virgin Islands and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Adler University in Chicago.

In addition to her clinical work, Wanda serves as an adjunct professor at Adler University, where she teaches Social Psychology and Human Growth and Development and has also taught Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling. Her work as both a clinician and educator reflects her commitment to lifelong learning, culturally responsive care, and integrating current research into clinical practice.

Wanda understands that beginning therapy can feel like a significant step and believes clients do not need to have everything figured out before they begin.

Her therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive. She believes every person brings unique experiences, identities, strengths, and perspectives into the therapeutic relationship.

Wanda works to meet clients where they are, offering a supportive and nonjudgmental space to explore challenges, better understand emotional and relational patterns, recognize existing strengths, and identify meaningful pathways toward change.

Her approach is informed by current research and evidence-based practices while remaining responsive to each client’s individual needs, goals, culture, and lived experiences.

Wanda enjoys working with adults across the lifespan, from young adults through older adulthood. She supports individuals navigating:

  • Anxiety, depression, and stress
  • Life transitions and adjustment
  • Relationship and family concerns
  • Identity and self-discovery
  • Grief and loss
  • Cultural and intergenerational experiences
  • Personal growth and resilience

Wanda has a particular interest in understanding how culture, family, identity, relationships, and lived experiences influence emotional well-being. She strives to provide care that recognizes the whole person rather than viewing concerns in isolation.

Wanda provides bilingual counseling in English and Spanish and offers both in-person and telehealth sessions.

Outside of her work as a therapist and educator, Wanda values opportunities for rest, connection, personal growth, and activities that support her own well-being.
